There is always more to say when it comes to 'exposing God's Word' (expository preaching). This is why Pastor Gary typically sends out additional information to ponder (meditate on) concerning the passage, because there is never enough time on a Sunday morning.

I spent some time in Sunday's sermon stressing the need to read the Scriptures with eyes that are on the lookout for Jesus. Jesus is the object of the Bible. (God is the Supreme Revelation, and Jesus is the incarnation of His revelation [Jn 1.14 & 18].) If we read the Bible and miss Jesus, we miss the redemptive purpose of the Bible. It would not be too bold to say that if we read the Bible and miss Jesus, we run the risk of not being saved. (This is the point Jesus was making to the Jewish opposition in John 5.39-40.) So, I cannot overstate the urgency and the value of reading God's word for the sake of "coming to that you may have life". ...
